Dr. Shafer (B.A. Yale, Ph.D. Harvard), Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Rutgers University, is published widely in foreign policy and international political economy, and has taught at universities around the world.

Michael has spent the last 14 years living in Thailand with his wife Evelind, together they manage their non-profit Warm Heart, in Phrao. Michael is head of the Environmental Program with a focus on the benefits of biochar, and how biochar can be part of the  solution to cooling off our overheated earth.
